Top Ten Rules for Successful Relationships

In spite of the vast literature and coaching lessons available, there is always a dearth of and a need for a better understanding of relationships and how to make them successful. In my numerous seminars, I have dealt with this issue directly or indirectly... so here are some of my thoughts listed down as a "must" needed top ten rules of successful relationships. Some of them might seem obvious, but we often forget to practice them.

1.  Learn to Listen.   Let the other person finish their sentence (thought).
2.  Know thyself.  Be in touch with your own feelings and needs.
3. Say what you mean.  Be able to clearly communicate your needs to others without demanding.
4.  Mean what you say.  Be authentic and genuine in your communication.
5.  Learn to Listen.   Men:  Although you love to “solve problems” and “fix”
things – when your woman is upset – she is not broken.  Women love to be
listened to and understood.

6. Learn to Appreciate.  Women:  Although men occur to be tough – they are very sensitive and good  at hiding their hurts.   Men thrive on being your Hero.
7.  Be aware of your emotions. Notice your trigger points,  breathe and accept.
8.  Be willing to forgive.  To err is human. The art of forgiveness has nothing to do with giving in or allowing others to trample on you.  It is the gift you give yourself.
9.  Relationships are dynamic, not static.  They require an ongoing
maintenance program.

10. Listen, listen, listen.  You just might learn something you really didn’t
know.
